About

Cam Made is a small design studio creating high quality, easy-to-follow plans for DIY camper conversions and workshop builds. Every design blends form with function and is an invitation to participate in the joy of creating with your hands.

The name Cam Made is a nod to both designer Cameron Holder and the CNC-based design method at the heart of the process — Computer Aided Machining.

Hey, I'm Cam

I'm an Industrial Designer, CNC Machinist and Cabinet Maker from Auckland, New Zealand.

My experience spans design, fabrication and CNC machining for film, retail, commercial and residential fit-out, and product development.

Nerding out in a workshop is my happy place. I love having the space and time to tinker and build. However, when I went overseas mid-2023, I found myself without workshop access for the first time in over ten years. I felt disconnected from my creative process which is a core part of my being. This hurdle forced me to investigate how to continue to create even without a workshop.

In every challenge there is a gift, and in this instance, I was given an opportunity to explore how I could continue my creative practice without being able to physically interact with my ideas.

I put up the blueprints from a Camper Conversion module I'd made, and was pleasantly surprised by how quickly and well-received they were by people from all over the world. This great reception inspired me to continue designing and publishing new blueprints for people to build themselves.
